Usually don't buy sporter mausers but price was to good to pass up. Besides the "custom" k98 stock job. It's an all matching numbers, all eagles intact and no import markings so yep figured why not!

    Gunz are icky.
    I like it.

Replace that recoil pad, remove that scope, install a nice Lyman or Redfield receiver peep sight and you’ll have a super cool retro 1950’s sporter.

At risk of sounding like a heretic, I like a well-made sporter. You get the ruggedness of the original military design in a hand-crafted package more suitable to your practical needs. And, if your sporter is a SMLE put together by your grandfather and his friends, you get a notable piece of family history.

    ....can't do that with a PSA AR-15.

One of the excellent builders of sporters was Saturn Gun Works, Reno NV. Several of their Mausers are on Guns International at this time. Depending on the caliber, and glass, they are asking 1.5k to 4K. There must be a residual market for these?
