Gasoline at what price?

My 2007 Toyota Tacoma is getting about 17.5 to 21 depending on highway vs. city. Love the truck. I have always found the MPG thing interesting with tree huggers. (hope I didn't offend anyone). My suburban carried 9 passengers and got 20 mpg. I used it for family of 5, plus all the stuff that goes with it, and transporting my kids and their sports teams in high school. I also had a Mazda 929 with 2 functional seats. It got 12 mpg but the libs liked it because it wasn't an SUV.

No common sense in the battle for stupidity.

FELLOW GUN TALKERS...Gasoline is supposed to go up between 20 and 30 cents over the next two weeks... Every prediction I read says we will have $4.00 plus gas all across the country by Summer's end. Predictions that it will be even higher exist but the majority say it will stabilize around the 4 dollar range. Unless something really favorable in the middle east happens, this is going to happen. It's what OPEC wants.

My question is this: When does the price of fuel start to change the way you drive or possibly even put the idea in your head to get rid of your SUV or truck? There is a point where I just am not going to buy gas and get 17 mpg. I'm not sure what that point exactly is...

I've already stopped running down to JCSSA (45mi each way) twice a week to practice for IDPA matches (only place I can do holster work) and have instead opted for dryfire practice at home.
I spent $60 on HALF a talk of gas yesterday. That's a 4 IDPA match fees.

I just got a new job where they give me a company truck and pay the fuel bill. It is a Ford Diesel F250, filled it today and right after I filled up they raised the price to $3.91 a gallon!
I am glad I have a job where they furnish a vehicle.

My company sled is an Explorer that gets about 21mpg. Gas is split about 50/50 between my pocketbook and theirs. I drive it about 250-350 miles a day Monday through Thursday... Needless to say, the fuel bill is getting worse every month. My GMC truck gets about 17.5 and my Jeep about 15 so if and/or when gas hits 5 bucks a gallon, I am probably going to move on to something that gets better fuel economy and think twice before pumping 30 gallons of gas in my boat..

My company vehicle is a Dodge Ram Megacab. Hwy mileage is about 17.5mpg going a little faster than most. In town, it hovers around 14.3mpg. Fortunately, the company pays all the bills for the truck, including all gas.........I'm not sure they'd want me to get this if they knew its mileage where gas prices were going.

Personally, my wife has a Honda CR-V, which gets great mileage in town and on the highway. We almost got her something bigger, but she really liked the CR-V.........whew, that was close. The second choice on her list was the 4x4 Toyota FJ, which is rated 18mpg hwy and 15mpg city. That little thing doesn't do any better on mileage than my giant truck!!

The only change for us it that we use the company truck for everything, she only drives the CR-V to work and back. The added bonus is that we keep a few miles off her Honda, that's a plus.

Thats why I have three motorcycles.I have a Ford focus that gets 35 mpg and only use it to get out to the range or grocery shop.All my bikes get around 60 to 70 mpg.

My car gets about 31mpg in the city and 36-37 on the highway on regular grade. I'm glad I don't drive my old V8 Jeep Grand Wagoneer anymore, 8mpg right now would be un-doable.

My next car purchase will get 25 or better average for sure. Thanks mostly to the high price of gas. I can afford to fill the tank, I just can't stand the thought if wasting my money at 12 mpg.
