Gotcha! I'm thinking Mobil 1 as a good synthetic, I'll look up that web site that Jeff B mentioned and see what it has to say.

Is OEM the brand name? I've never heard that before.

Stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer" or something like that.

I've used mobile one for years in my cars without any engine problems,
mobile 1 also works on guns, drop or two on slides works wonders.

Thanks. Now how much does this OEM oil filter cost? And how much does the mobile one synthetic cost. And will I get better gas mileage or will my Car run better with a synthetic? I drive an 03 Nissan Pathfinder SE, I used to work in some auto shop and was asked to recommend synthetic motor oil to folks on the grounds that it simply last longer, so I did I have never until now had something that was worth the extra money to put the pricey oil into.

OEM Nissan filters are like $5 - 6 / ea. It might be more for the larger ones. The filter is one of the most important parts to maintaining bearing life and long term compression.

The engine will run cooler, and you might see an uptick in mileage. Generally with the same viscosity you probably won't see much difference, but the synthetic oil is better at maintaining flow, especially in cooler weather.

So If I'm using 5w-30 now that is what I should put in with the synthetic?
