Default Synthetic motor oil?

I'm thinking about making the switch from Castrol or Valvoline 5w-30 to a synthetic motor oil. I will not use Pennzoil and I'm not sure if the two brands I like have a synthetic. I hear Mobil has a good synthetic, but I don't know for sure. Anyway what I want to know is do I use the same wait (5w-30) in synthetic or dose that have to change. And what kind of synthetic do y'all use?

I use Pennzoil and nothing else. Last two trucks I've had both had over 200K miles on them when I traded/sold them. I did change the oil every 3-4K miles, though. Have you had a bad experience with Pennzoil?

No I have had a bad experience with it. But when I worked at on of the shops I worked at that was their house brand. It tends to gum a little more than others.

Mobil 1. The guy that does my work swears by it, says that if you've seenthe demo engines that they show after running some insane amount, you'd never run anything else.

Do a search on Mobil1, it'll give you thier website, and there is a guided lookup for the right oil for your vehicle.

It is a Saturn that came off the lot with a factory supercharger. GM rated them at 205 HP, later found to be drastically underrated for insurance purposes....

Mobil 1 is good, I think Amsoil is better in my opinion.

Synthetic motor oil is much better than your standard dinosaur juice. If you change the filter every 3 - 4K then you can run it for up to 7500 miles before it needs changing. The oil itself will last forever, it's the additive package in the oil that is exhausted, as well as trace particulates that add up.

Make sure you only use OEM filters. They are almost always tons better than the aftermarket ones. When we compared Nissan OEM filters to several brands, we found that the Nissan filter had almost 50% more media than some brands like Fram, were of better construction, and have anti-drain back valves, which some filters don't have. Wix was pretty damn close to OEM, so I've used them as well.
