Default Mandrel benders in Texas, preferably Austin

Looking to get a bend put in 2.25 or 2.5 pipe, and would like to do it mandrel since it is only one bend, and it is for an intake before a turbo. Does anyone know of any shops that do mandrel bending in the Austin area, or north of Austin in the 35 corridor?

No one does it in Austin, they haven't for years.

Get a round or pre-bend pipe. Call Boost Logic and ask them what they have in stock. They do alot of custom turbo applications on top of the single turbo kits for the MkIV Supra. If they can't get it, they'll tell you where you can find it.

How big is the turbo? 2.25" is tiny. The intake setup on my T25 was bigger than that.

1.75" OD. it's a vq38 on a 650cc engine. Calling it a Big Mac would not mean it was big, but rather refer to the actual size of it. There seems to be someone in Houston, but wondering about someone in the Dallas area.

ummm.........call Mike Montgomery at Montgomery Welding - they're just west of 35 on Braker. Tell him George Mandry suggested you call and what you need - if he can't, he can likely tell you who can. Come to think of it - what about a custom exhaust shop? Some of 'em have the machines....

They won't have a mandrel bender, those are ALOT more expensive than the crush benders that 99% of exhaust shops use. Most custom shops end up using pre-bent sections and cutting them to fit.

The mandrel benders are usually CNC controlled and go up exponentially after the 2.5" realm, alot of them also increase in cost for thicker steels due to the hydraulic pressure required to roll them.

hmmm....ya may be right - I was thinkin' some of the custom shops might - but yeah, why go to the extra expense on a tail pipe. I'd still try Mike, though - if anyone has one, he'd likely know.

Will be in Texas in December looking for a job, I will contact some shops to see what they can do. If I find a job here I wont need the pipe though.

Electric supply stores have pre-bent conduit 90 degree sweeps. You would be supprised at what you can use them for.
