What sucks is that this guy lied if he had not lied then it would not have been such a big deal.

Newbs at ranges scare me when they care about their ego more than the safety of themselves and those around them. Wayne, glad to stayed back to ensure this guy was ok to go and ran through the procedures.

If the guy wanted to save face he shouldn't have lied. If he really wanted to be coy yet ask for help he should have said he hadn't shot a Glock in a while so he could use a refresher on the buttons/levers.

You shouldn't let her bring wedding pictures to use as targets!

i was at the shooters club yesterday, and some guy had a misfire, so the first thing he did was put the butt of the gun on the rest/stand, and looked down the barrel,(he was in the next lane and i was reloading just looking at his macho one handed terminator style sideways stance) then proceeded to hit the butt of the gun on the rest... i grabbed his hands and placed his hands and gun flat on the rest, and pointed the gun downrange, and removed his hands no sooner did i do that and the round discharged and the gun went spinning onto the floor.

i dragged him by his shoulder out to the showroom and chewed his a@& a new one, not only did he endanger his life, he endangered my and everyone elses in there, their staff told him to pack up and leave, and strongly recommended he not frequent there again.

HE LOOKED DOWN THE BARREL NOT 5 SECONDS BEFORE...

It was a good thing you were there and prevented a VERY bad situation from happening...

This is how my brother's best friend died many years ago, except he was at home trying to "fix" a gun that had a round "lodged" in the chamber. Unfortunately he took the round right in front of his wife.

I have had more weapons aimed in my direction at gun shows than I did in Viet Nam. When necessary I go in, buy what I need and leave. I've been told too many times "don't worry, it's not loaded"

that's the same time i snatch it, and point it in their face...
followed by oh don't worry, it's not loaded

got a sneering look from the vendor, but i made my point and he apologized.

i hate it when people don't take the time to be gun conscious, even at a place that you really need to be...

i hear all the time at cheaper than dirt in response to me saying, let me point this around you so i don't point it in your direction, his response is oh it don't bother me i aint gun shy anymore...

then i show him the shell in my hand and say, you sure about that... now the shell is non primed, no powder, and just has a bullet hand seated in place, but it made him think twice about where that weapon was pointed...

i treat every gun as loaded, even if i am working on it and it is in pieces...
