I am not a gun smith but I do know the Mauser 98 fairly well. The trigger is quite simple and easy to maintain or replace. Is the trigger too tight? Too lose? Wobbly, sloppy? Is this a military rifle with a replacement barrel or is it a modern production rifle. If military you can buy replacement triggers all day long inexpensively.

Lot's of aftermarkey Mauser triggers out there. Much easier to install one than rework stock triggers, especially miltary triggers. here's just a small sample of what's available:http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/Brow...0766***9144***

my mausers get timney's...

we have 6 of them and they all have timney triggers, you can adjust them and tune them to you.

we buy the gold ones, never had a failure and always reliable...

depending on which mauser you get, we always get the ones with safeties, they seem to be more reliable than the bolt safety (non 98)

Some variant of the mauser 98 or large ring mauser as some people call them.
