The HK45 has the following benefits:

- Significantly Better Ergonomics
- O-Ringed Barrel
- Slimmer Profile
- 200% More Mag Release Button Area
- Ambidextrous Slide Stop
- Glow in the Dark Sights (Not True Night Sites)
- Adjustable Backstraps

That's on top of the good things the USP line had going for it.

I would not consider a USP when I could get the HK45.

You weren't kidding. I've done my research into the HK45 versus the USP and you were right, it's a much improved weapon. Drooling over the HK45 has just about compelled me to do something I've put off for years due to California regulations and fees: buy a new gun. I'd be interested in buying out-of-state and having it sent to a gun dealer here if the price is right. Any recommendations for a good place to buy?

I have the fullsize 45 as well and have the same report. Atleast a thousand rounds through it since I got it and ZERO malfunctions of any kind. Little lrge for an all day gun though. Usually my truck gun.

First of all, the law now requires you pass a Handgun Safety course ($25) and receive a certificate. Then there's the state/county sales tax averaging 10.5% of the sale. Next there's the "voluntary" firearm report to the state ($19). Then there is a required $1.00 Firearms Safety Testing fee. Next we have a $5.00 Safety and Enforcement fee. After that comes the cost (variable) of buying a lock for the gun which is mandated by state law.

I think that just about covers it, but knowing this state I'm probably missing something. Doesn't seem like enough hoops to have to jump through there for the Nanny State.
