I have no experience with them, I think the barrel was chrome plated? It looked fine. Are you a Ham radio operator?

Why didn't you use your current call as user name? Just curious. I had a teacher in high school that was a ham operator, he brought in his radio one day. That's the only reason I recognized you were using your call.....errr, old call. He tried to teach use Morse Code, I didn't do so hot on that one.
