so i went back to the local gun store today and noticed they had a used M&P compact for $495... the guy at the store wasn't positive, but sure that it came with everything as if i were to buy it new..

What do u guys think? new or used? it looked pretty clean but didn't look at it too hard because i was in a hurry.

I'm looking a M&P 40c on gunbroker and in the details it states "This gun WILL NOT FIRE wth the magazine out" is that normal operation or is this a defected unit? Details also state its new in box.

The XD9SC (4.75 x 6.25 in) is 26 oz empty, the M&P 9c (4.3 x 6.7 in) is 21.7 oz. For me, both shoot very similar. M&P just feels so much "more compact" and has no more felt recoil. M&P costs a little more but I think it might be worth it to me. I shoot both of these guns better than the Glock 26, and the G26 beats my hand up (although G17 seems great to me).

P.S. M&P is available without the mag interlock

The XD has a smoother trigger pull in general than the M&P... I was considering both way back when but now I have 3 XD's so I don't regret my purchase...

Some of the M&P's have magazine safeties. others do not.

This is a the way the manufactorers wanted it.

On a combat pistol, I don't want a magazine safety. I can think of lots of situations where being able to fire a gun when the magazine is not in the gun as a good thing. On a completely target gun (say a 22lr pistol), I actually am stuck between wouldn't mind having one and wanting to have one.

Basically, it is a "safety" feature of a gun. We all know that, if fact a gun are only as safe as the person holding it.
