Value of Springfield .45 SUPER 1911

I bought this gun in January from a buddy of mine. His Grandfather was a gunsmith. His Grandfather died and they have no idea what has been done to this gun.

I have the blue case from springfield that has the s/n along with a Springfield part number of PI9CUS45. I called Springfield and they said it did not come from the Custom shop but was a custom order. But they did not have on file what had been done in the factory to the gun Expect it was a .45SUPER.

From what I can tell it was made in 1997

Has adjustable trigger
Light weight hammer
Adjustable sights
Beaver tail

I am trying to figure out how much the value is for insurance.

There's not going to be anything "magical" about that particular pistol. I'd just suggest pricing a Springfield Loaded in 45acp and assign that value to it.

As far as determining "what's been done to it", any decently-competent gunsmith could break it down and give you that info.

I just needed to figure our what the replacement value would be so I could tell my insurance agent.

I figured it was close to the Loaded.

Actually, a Loaded Target to be precise. That's a nice 1911, but I am partial to Springfields...

This is always the challenge on a custom gun - not only trying to place value on it, but figuring out just WHAT was done to it (absent the build sheet). I'll go out on a limb here and venture at $900 - $1150 bucks.

I'm a novice shooter so I don't know how accurate it is yet. But my buddy use to compete shoot and we are going to reds tomorrow.

I'd say $1000 for the rare chambering and the overall condition / model.

.45 Super is a super hot .45 ACP that uses it's own high pressure rated brass and a uprated load behind a 230 grain FMJ. It's quite snappy, and has a fair amount of pop behind it. You'd have to reload for it, and that can be done with standard .45 ACP dies. Just DO NOT use .45 ACP brass, it will rupture.

Could it be made to fire 45 auto? Just curious. Looks like a nice gun to me.
