    SA-XD 45 ACP grip size vs SA-XD-9..???

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the grip height of these two weapons? I have both and when I ordered PRP grip tapes for them, the back rubber CNC cutouts were too tall for the .45 (wouldve covered the mag)...I called them and they more than graciously sent out a replacement in case it was just packaged wrong but I just checked and its still too all. I bought the weapon used on here from a TGT user and its been a gem, so I have no complaints. Someone mentioned that Springfield had offered custom grip sizes on older models. So, Im just checking the cerebral knowledge base here to see if anyone has heard of this. its only about a 1/4"-1/2" difference tho....

    Thanks y'all

(and major kudos to PRP tho...awesome product!! Has made my 9 and XDm 40 tons better to shoot! )

Ya sure they're not confusing the full-sized model with the compact? Or maybe the XD with the XDm?

I own a XD-45, and have handled numerous XD-9s and they feel the same. Given the increase in capacity in the 9mm, I would say they would be very close (within 1mm) if not the same...and since they can all be used in the same holsters, I am thinking it's the latter...

M2....they're not confused as much as I am...I have both guns and the 9mm is taller in the grip than the .45...not by much, but enuf for PRP's stick on grip tape to be too long for the .45...if I have the extended/high cap mag in, they are the same, but the grip tape is designed to go down to right above the mag...I basically trimmed it to length but its odd that the grip itself isnt the same length...both slides etc are the same exact length so its not a compact vs match/service/whatever length...

Sounds like you have an XD45 compact. Does your XD45 have two different mags...One 10 round short mag and one 13 round mag with the grip sleeve? Here is info from the SA website:
    XD9 4" barrel(service model) 5.5" height
    XD45 4" barrel(service model) 5.75" height
XD45 4" barrel(compact model) 5" height with short mag, 5.75" height with extended mag

So, a XD45 service model has 1/4" more grip length than a 9mm service model.

PRP makes grip tape specifically for the compact. You'll see it in the drop down menu on their site.

Glad to help. Do you have two different size magazines for that XD45? If so, it's a compact. If both mags are same and hold 13 rounds then you have a service.
