Does anyone here know where Obama was really born?
Is there a site I can go to that has the real info on him. The reason I ask is I have heard he was born in Kenya or was he born here in the USA. If not on american soil he cant be President.

There is a significant amount of debate about Senator Obamas place of birth. There is a camp that contends that he was actually born in Kenya, and his mother registered the birth in Hawaii, thus providing a US birth certificate.
Additionally, the age of his mother at the time of his birth, if overseas could impact his citizenship status, but, I don't really expect that anything will come out that would cause his candidacy to be in danger. Jeff B. |

It would depend on the laws in effect at the time of his birth, even if born abroad. If both parents were US Citizens and one parent had lived in the US for at least 5 years and the birth was recorded by the US Embassy in the nation of birth, then he would be a citizen.
In the case of only one parent being a citizen the laws have been changed many, many times. In general though, if the citizen parent has lived in the US for a period of time (under some versions of the law as little as two years) before the date of birth, and the birth is registered with the US Embassy in the nation of birth, the person is a citizen. Regardless, hopefully he will be our next President. |
