I think you are missing the context a bit...

Slow down there, read the thread and what Robert was replying too. I know him, he wasn't meaning anything harmful or disrespectful about service members. In fact he made posted the original post! He was replying, as he quoted, to my post about getting misty eyed. He basically said he's too tough to cry (<-- still have my doubts friend! )

I've sent my husband over and lots of friends to boot.

Do you think you might have misunderstood KoWs post?

That reply was to Shorts, and it was not disrespectful. I banged up my leg pretty good on the back of my truck, she saw my cut at one of our meet & greets (skin & hair still stuck to the truck)....that's what I was joking about....It goes back to a DFW shoot thing.

Seeing as I am the OP (read the original post), I don't understand how anybody could presume to think I was referring to our troops. I AM as Patriotic as they come!

Thanks, no hard feelings. You just didn't make the connection that I was the OP.

I agree, but we only found out about from the news clip.....we'd definitely do it again if we could find out the when & where in advance.

Maybe we should have a TGT wecome home group? We could go to these to pump up the numbers so it is a bigger better welcome home for the troops. DFW could have a group, Houston, Austin, and so forth. Plus, while there, we could chat folks up about the forum. Maybe official t-shirts "TexasGunTalk welcomes back our Texas Troops" on the back, with a big American flag on the front?

I remember coming home from our '03 deployment to NAVSTA Everett, WA. I was on the Lincoln (ship Bush "flew" onto in the S-3 Viking) and forced to man the rails in my dress whites (pissed my chief off for a certain cruise book photo). Senior enlisted didn't typically man the rails since you had to dust off your dress uniform and make it look nice.

Anyway - as we were entering port after a 10 month deployment, you could see everyone lined up on the pier waiting for us. There was a paper mill right next to the base and consequently tons of logs tied up near the land. Well, there was this one logging crane that had a log in its pinchers that had an American flag sticking out of the end of it. That crane operator was just spinning that log in a 360 degree arc until we got into port. I'll never forget that.
