What about the thousands of black slave owners? And how about the blacks that originally enslaved the blacks that were sold to the whites?

All those ideas are about as ignorant as anyone that voted for Obama.

I've got to say I'm so fed up with blacks and this slavery issue. Slavery was abolished 150 years ago, get over it! Another thing, blacks always talk about whites enslaving them, yet all the European slave traders did was tap into the black-on-black slave trade that preexisted in Africa. Blacks there were more than happy to sell/trade their enemies to the whites. Why don't they ever talk about that? One final point. More whites were taken to Africa from Europe and sold into slavery than blacks who were sent to the Americas. But no one seems to care to remember that sticky little part of history.

I'll add one more thing to the race issue. I hate this "African American" crap, which only increases the Balkanization of America. If I were to go the same route, then I should be demanding that people (government included) should identify me as an English-Scottish-Irish-German-Swiss American. That's my lineage, damn it, and I demand people identify me as such....

Agreed,unless we dropped such things as the hyphened American, and organization such a NAACP, La Raza,black & Hispanic caucus, etc this country will remain separated.These groups simply by there very being imply racism.

If your here legal your an American simply, that and act proud go to work be good to your family and the world will respect you, no matter your color.
