I totally disagree. We shouldn't give any president powers such as these. Our country was founded on basic freedoms. And, privacy being a biggie. I am almost certain that people will be for this. Why? Because, the President is saying we have to protect our Countries computer system, and the sensitive data that is in them. Although, I am very much for this. I am against the plan that he wants to execute to get this done.
I remember hearing about this when George Bush was president. I was with my grandmother, and I immediatly had a problem with it. I told my grandmother my concerns. And, she thought I was being ridiculous. She claimed that George Bush would NEVER use wiretaping to invade anyones privacy just to do it. Then, she looked at me, and said "Well, Trent. If you have nothing to hide. Then, you will be ok"
This shocked me, and what she said speaks volumes with the morons who will want to back this bill. I would also like to point out, that I am not a Republican, or a Democrat. I simply vote for who I think will do a better job in this country. Besides that, I believe both parties have an agenda.
And, to let you all know, I am for the right to bear arms. My roomates think that 9/11 was staged. Although, I do not believe this, I do believe it gave those overpowering assholes in Washington exactly what it needed. A reason to watch us, and every move we make.
You can't as a government in a country like this say "We will watch ever move you make." and have it stick. But, if you say something like "We must monitor calls, bust in your home without probable cause, and read your mail. In the name of National Security, and to protect you, and your loved ones." Then, you will have people that will scream for that protection. And, not think a thing about our freedoms.
This bill spits in the faces of our wonderful forefathers who founded this country. And, The President should be asamed of it. Again, I am for a solution to better protecting our national computers from cyber terrorists, and hackers. But, not like this. We might as well call our government a Totalitarism society if this goes through.
I know, people say write your congressmen about this. But, is that the only solution? I am 33 years old, and to be quite honest. This bill terrifies me. Lets say for the moment that the President uses this bill as it is intended to be used for. And, to make wise choices as to whose internet activity poses a threat, and take action on it.
Even, if he plays by those rules. He will not hold office forever. And, then another person will step into The White House. How can we be sure that he/or she doesn't abuse this power. We are not.
9/11, and other terrorist attacks have made us afraid. Even, though I keep hearing we are not. Bills like this say we are. When, I die I want to die believe that our freedoms is the true riches of this country. I want to die believing that there are still people who want to preserve our freedoms at any cost.
Another one of his ideas. Is to monitor who has illegal copywritten material stored on their computers. If, whatever moron he appoints thinks you MIGHT have an illegally downloaded movie, or music on your computers. They can come into your home without probable cause, and seize your computer equipment. They don't even have to have any evidence of such activity. I think I am out of gas talking about this. And, I know I went on long. But, this is a great concern of mine. I will write my congressmen about it. And, if any of you believe in God. I would suggest praying along with writting your representatives.
