LaRue OBR 7.62 vs. PredatAR 7.62

I just got the latest reminder e-mail to pre-order my tickets to LaRue's Range Day. Wife and I are definitely going and we're trying to get a few more friends together.

With the discounts at Range Day, I am looking to order a 7.62 rifle with an 18-inch barrel. My inclination is to go with the PredatAR due to the lighter weight design. However, I haven't seen anyone on TGT talk about this rifle.

I am sure that the gun is more accurate than I am, so that's not a huge deal. Price is slightly lower than the OBR, too.

Am I missing some great rifle elsewhere or would you recommend one of the 2 LaRue rifles.

    I need some advice.

FWIW, of the few range reports that I have read indicate that the 16" PredatAR is good for just under 2 moa, while the OBR is sub moa. A couple more to consider are the LMT LM308MWS and KAC SR25. My LMT, with 16" CL barrel, is shooting just under 1 moa with factory match ammo.

I have a 16" PredatAR, factory target was sub-MOA. Havent had the opportunity to get out with it myself yet.

Thanks for the suggestions. I took a look at the LMT and KAC. They only come in 16" or 20" versions. I am looking for something with an 18" barrel. (Too specific?)

Also, I'm not a huge fan of the desert tan furniture on the PredatAR. Do you know if LaRue offers the option to change that out?

What do you think of the Magpul UBR stock? What about the ACS stock?

Well..... Not sure if they officially do it. They had said they were under a crunch when I ordered mine and were not making any changes. (but I got black furniture on mine when I asked).

I always go for lighter. All the LaRue guns I have handled are on the heavy side. I use all my guns for 3 gun. Lighter is better for that game. I am looking at LaRue and several others. Still have not decided on one yet. I was thinking about trying to make it out to the range day, but I think it is geared to new shooters.

The 7.62 OBR with a 16" barrel will be more versatile & reliable.
