Thread: Best Shotgun for Home Defense?

Default Best Shotgun for Home Defense?

I was thinking something like a Remington 870 in 12 Gauge loaded with Buck, but I know Mossberg and others have some valid choices. What say ye?

I've been really happy with $160 Mossberg Maverick 88. I don't think you can go wrong with either Mossberg or Remington.

I have a long-barreled version. It's a little unwieldy in a house, but it works well.

Yeah, I can imagine. I have the 18" and it's a little big to move around the house with.

I'm going to take a gander the next Saxet show I go to. There is one guy that specializes in shotguns and he always has alot of Remingtons. My dad and grandfather have Mossbergs.

Yipper, I have a Mossberg 500 12ga pump. Holds 8 rounds and makes a lot of noise. Came with 18.5 inch and 28 inch barrels plus a standard stock and a pistol grip. Not a bad weapon for about 250 bucks back in 1990.

Benelli M4 with 000 buck will terminate with extreme prejudice!!!

But if I'm paying then make it a Remmy 870 tactical.

Rem 870 and Moss 500 are great choices since there's plenty of aftermarket parts available to configure them any way you want. Either of those with 00 Buckshot will suffice.
