no this isn't "The Thief". We'll get to Dekkar in a minute. I just wanted to point out that more than 75% of the stuff everyone buys on craigslist could be stolen, etc. 9 outta 10 people don't give a damn. Its a way to get new/old things at a hefty discount. Bottom line.
Back to Dekkar: I won't be dealing with him due to all the charges that were filed against him obviously. You guys were good at investigating this guy from the jump. I was asking for yall's general opinion. How would he get over on someone in a deal of which I described? Just outta curiosity I wonder...i dunno. And again, No I'm not Mr. Dekkar. lol nice try though |

I just find it incredible that he's never screwed anyone over on craigslist(?), but yet he's consistently robbed all these gun owners so-much-so that we have a 12 page thread about it? Hmmm...interesting. Usually when I see people get scammed over the internet or even in person, I say to myself, "I don't feel sorry for those people at all. You wouldn't ever find me in that situation, period." And I pretty much still feel the same way to be perfectly honest. Take it as you will.

You don't THINK he's ripped anyone on CL off - you don't know. Last time I looked, folks don't change MO's. Then again - you could very well be him - seems odd that you post on this thread for your very first post. As to folks not caring about sources on CL. Again - if YOUR morals are that low, that's fine - just don't paint me with your broad brush, my friend.

Not sure if this was posted about the email, but since you said he contacted you by email. The company of his email provider, whether it was gmail or hotmail would have his different IP addresses and they would be able to track him that way. If it was a static IP it would be harder but at least they could have some generalized way to then track him back to the service provider and then you just take it from one person at a time.

Nobody gives a DAMN ,about your lack of sympathy, this thread that I started was to EXPOSE , this POS , and stop him from burning someone else, i was'nt trying to start a support group!Last edited by ge0624me; 06-08-2009 at 12:03 AM. |

Personally I love craigslist. I haven't used it for firearms because they don't allow it.
I would have to go ahead and disagree with the 75% "could be" stolen comment. Unless it's from the store or direct mail, 100% "could be" stolen. Usually you can tell from the type of people you are dealing with, their email skills, condition of the item, etc. In my experience buying and selling things on craiglist, I have met some really nice people face to face, and I would venture to say 100% of the items I bought were legit. I have no proof, well except for a motorcycle title, in which case that was the biggest purchase, but for some other random stuff...no technical proof. I have seen some ads where it seemed pretty obvious they were stolen items. Usually really really low prices, need to sell quick, etc. from urban areas. Saw a few really shady ads from houston when I was looking at bikes. I love my motorcycle and parakeets I got off craigslist. If only they allowed firearms! To the guy buying the PC...even if it starts up and appears to run correctly, I wouldn't trust it at all. Not even speaking from a hot item standpoint either. Poster seems suspect... |
