Not to add salt to the cut, but what concerns me a little, is that a guy presented himself to you as a APD Detective, with fake credentials, and your primary focus has been on the check and your gun and not reporting it to APD.

If the guy can get away with faking someone out like that, what else is he capable able able to do?

Lowes parking lot? wonder ifn you were parked close enough that they caught you on their cameras? . Might be worth passing that info to the cops. Sad to hear about the theft/loss. I have made a few purchases/sales and try to get them in a neutral place, such as a store parking lot and copy plate number of the vehicle before I get out of mine. Also, mabe I am paranoid but I always leave this, along with the TN and email of the person on the floor of the car when I get out to meet. And I also was burned on TGT with the Military Bore cleaner a bit back. However, TGT still the best!

In the first post the OP said the check bounced. Then you wrote that he is claiming the bank closed his account. How did he make that contact?

You later posted you filed a report for "fraudelant [sic] check"; there is no such charge.

Issuance of a bad check, perhaps?

1- His check did bounce higher than a slamdunk contest,my bank withdrew the $830.00 right out of my money market to cover. 2-i never made contact with him after the first transaction at the lOWES, the manager of his bank gave me the info on his account, after , i pleaded for some info ,on this individual, 3-the San Marcos Police Officer, that took my report , said and i qoute ''I will write this up as a Theft by Fraudelant check'' unquote, hope that answers, some of the questions. 4.Theres actually another pending charge filed on this individual with the San Marcos DA office, on another gun scam involving a fraudelant chk, the day before mine came in.

I see now. When you wrote that his BACK closed the account I didn't get that you meant his bank.

There are two penal code violations that might apply, Theft or Issuance of a bad check. Issuance of a bad check is a class C Misdemeanor, and Theft (by Check) would make it a class A Misdemeanor. Hopefully they go with that.

Also be sure you contact the BATFE.

We were scammed by this guy also. It has been a horrible experience. He also represented himself as an Austin police officer to us. APD would not do anything about it since it happened in Kyle. We filed with Hays County DA as well. We hope he gets caught.
