Why bother?

Stupid is, as stupid does. You can read this all you want, it still won't keep you from getting burned... if you are a "trusting" person that's dealing with people you don't "really" know.

At 58 years old, I have never been scammed. I don't trust anyone I don't know extremely well. Even then, I won't release my property unil the REAL GREEN is in my hands.

I sold a Benelli Super 90 to a guy that claimed to be a "retired" Police officer from Arlington TX, and he had "credentials" indicating he really was an officer. He wanted to pay with a personal check. I told him "I DON'T THINK SO!" My Benelli goes to the first $1000.00 CASH that hits my hands... no exceptions.

He said he'd run down to the bank, and get me cash... I never heard from that scammer again.

I've taken personal checks from folks...never been burned. That being said, I'm quite cautious about it, and have a business background. Can it happen? Sure - didn't say I'll take a check from anybody!<G> But in the meantime, I'm not gonna run around mistrusting everyone because of what a coupla scammers have done!

Any advice on taking money orders? I am selling some ammo to someone in TX through TexasGunTrader.com. We are kind of far from each other so he is mailing the money order.

And no it's not some guy from Ghana or Nigeria or anything.

I'll usually call and talk to the person, try to get a "feel" on 'em. But guys - some of ya'll are WAY paranoid IMO - hell, I've got folks that even take my PERSONAL checks on $1k+ guns!

Hell Forest.... I bet you named your Boat Jenny too. Sorry some of us are half your age and don't look at everyone as a criminal.

I prolly won't take checks from anyone anymore.
