The only one near clear Lake use to be called Clear Creek gun range, but I think it has developed a bad reputation lately. I've heard very good things about the outdoor range in Texas City, but I've never been there.

Nope, but that's the only two outdoor public range I know of. There's PSC, but it's a membership affair.

There is PSC in Friendswood, but that's a Shooting Club. Here is their website. Sounds like a great place.

How bad is Clear Creek? Will we have to shoot our way in and shoot our way out?

I'm trying to spread the gun disease to a lazy friend...

How bad is Clear Creek?
Honestly, I’ve never had any problems with the place. Of course, I usually go there to sight in a rifle or two. I usually never stay there more than an hour. I’ve never seen the problems that I’ve read about here and on other websites. It doesn’t mean they don’t happen. I’m just saying it's (rude behavior) never happened to me. I guess I’ve been lucky.

I haven't had any problems there either. It has been a couple of years since I was there, so ymmv.

Sounds just like Hot Wells and Shiloh. People complain about newbies at Hot Wells and complain that the guys at Shiloh are always undressing you with their eyes.
