Default Lone Star range report (Lockhart, BBQ Capitol of Texas)

Myself and two other buddies went down to the Lone Star Range today and joined up. We all live in Austin, so it seemed like the right thing to do. Support your local range, and all that. Good place and good people. See photos attached. The only downer is that there is NO cover from the sun on the rifle range. I am sunburned to pieces right now. It makes a great spring/fall range, but not for a hot Texas summers day. It would also be nice if it could be extended to 200 yards. Shooting 308 at 100 yards is not much of a challenge and steel targets would be feasible. Level shooting benches would be a big plus too !

Steve.

Cool! I think there is plans for shade, I'm going to talk to Matt tomorrow and I'll mention to him about the report.

He does have a cover for the rifle range , he just has not put it up yet. I think he wants to get the benches level and do a little more work before he puts up a permanent structure. He also plans to put in baffles.

As far as getting sunburned,:D, one should always carry sunblock in their range bag, remember, you are in Texas and one thing we have in surplus is sun.

Man, I can't wait to go back there. I just wish my work schedule would let up for at least one weekend so I can get some more shooting in.
