Default How much is it worth?

I have a S&W Police Regulation chambered in 38 S&W with a 4" barrel, 95% bluing and stag grips, and it has a three digit S/N. Anyone know about how much it could be worth?

No sir, its a S&W Police Regulation chambered in 38 S&W, and is pre-WWI as per the serial number (three digit). The grips have been changed to a stag handle, not by me, but by the previous owner. I just cant get a fixed value on it, because everywhere I look, even some that are in only 50-60% condition are selling for $500, one I have seen has the original grips and is 95% and is selling for $700. I would just like to get a round about figure as toward its worth, possibly for sale or trade.

Here is a pic of it. There is a little rust right at the muzzle, like .187"x.250", and some wear on the cylinder from what looks like holster wear. I have only put 35 rounds through it, maybe less, all I know is that I still have about 15 rounds left in my box. Honestly, I dont want to sell it. But if I could find out its worth and someone was to offer me the right price, then maybe I could negotiate a deal.

Sorry - but given the condition you describe, it's NOT a 95% gun. Not taking anything away from it, but rust is a big detraction on a gun...

Well, I am not a professional grader, but I didnt want to go after it and risk ruining more of the finish. So, would I be safe to say 85-90%?

The only spot of rust is right at the muzzle, and is visable in the pic above. Other than that, the bluing is good, except from usual wear around the cylinder from a holster, and its not even that bad.
