Default Did you buy a pail of USGI bore cleaner?

No you didn't.

A user recently told me that he purchased a 5 gallon pail of this stuff. First time he used it he noticed damage to his grips.

The pail was marked 6850-00-965-233 p/n HT 2220. I looked this up and it's a Paint Remover that is also an oxydizer.

It is unknown if this paint remover was what was in the pail.

This could damage any painted or non-metal part and some alloys.

There is information on the web about using solvents such as this to make your own "USGI style" borecleaner. Which may or may not have been done in this case.

This is not bore cleaner. It is either straight paint remover, or a concoction. Since the chemical inside is an unknown I would recommend that you do not use this item or even open the container.

All attempts to contact seller have failed so far.

If you decide to dispose of this material, please contact your local waste disposal service for instruction.

I was the one that reported this. Guy seemed to be ok though his number came up blocked. His name is Tom Maclean, email, sukhoi_fan@yahoo.com though calling and email does not seem to get a reply. Just be aware if he posts something you may not be getting what you think you are.
