Well, I just usually read and chuckle to myself on comments such as I've read here. However, although I agree that the gouging should stop, I spent 4 years in Uncle Sam's military defending our capitalistic way of life---buying what we want at a price we can afford and re-selling for what we consider a reasonable price. I do reload, I do buy primers a bunch at a time, and I buy the lead and brass at prices I can afford. However, as I am not properly licensed to sell ammo, I usually give it away for the cost of components and charge the buyer a burger and fries for my efforts and labor. Of late, I've been passing a lot of .380 loads on to my son in law and friends as that is still a rare commodity. And, I've been hoarding other calibers for myself and grandson when he comes of age. Before attacking folks for making a profit on their purchase, consider the fact that we still have the freedom to do just that---but I fear that freedom is meeting with undue aggression as our government is attempting to bring us to a more socialist state. Again, it irks me that primers and some calibers of brass and bullets are hard to find....but I will continue to enjoy my freedom of buying what I acn afford and doing as I please with my purchases.....OKAY, I'm stepping off my soapbox now and will be checking my mailbox for the inceentive packages that will be coming over the next few years and feeling sorrow that my kids and grandkids will be inheriting a debt that they will work hard and long to repay.

Look at the bright side....as the supply lines replenish, all the folks that WERE trying to hoard the ammo strictly to resale it are gonna be eating a LOT of inventory that they'll have to sell for what THEY paid for it just to unload it. The only thing that'd be more poetic would be for ammo prices to go down.....<evil grin>

The last gun show I went to they had a pound of Varget for $40 and a 1000 WLRs for $150. The only guy that I saw that wasnt really gouging was the guy selling Rangers for $35-45 because hell, I pay that with shipping tacked on. But he even had 9mm and 45 ACP WWB going for $16 and $25 respectively, which is still a little high, but nowhere near the $30-$50 or higher a box that I was seeing everywhere else. Or the $300 for 500 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 when Cabelas in Ft. Worth has it for $130 now. Still cant find .308 Win brass hardly, or 45 ACP for that matter.
I have plenty of rifle primers, jsut no pistol primers. the guy I buy from didnt have any on the shelf when I asked, and as I was about to leave he asked me to hang around for a little while... Having plenty of time on my hands, I obliged. After the last customer left, he walked into the back and had the amount of primers in hand that I asked for, and didnt even jack up the price. Thanks to the good ole boys that still have integrity left in them. But the next day, I walked back in there to pick up an order of bullets that came in and a guy came in and asked him if he had any WLR primers in stock and of course he did, and asked the guy how many he needed, he said, "All of them." My guy said, "well sir, I would definately like to save some of these for other people that may need them, will two hundred do ya?" The customer huffed and walked right out the door, slamming it on the way out. My guy just laughed and said that he didnt need people like that as a customer, and right after that he had another guy come in and buy three pistols and a shotgun from him. Guess he made up for losing that one customer. ![]()

I just came back in from the garage , I didn't any primer shortage or ammo shortage , I guess I need to get back out in the market placeand see what is going on ....I have enough ammo for each of my 100+ firearms to last me an eternity and then thee is the 5 shelves full of powder and primers and gold (bass) to load them all again !
except for that high priced weatherby stuff I am set, set i tell you ! with thesmelting pot and a truck imean truck full of lead the only thing that scares me is the cost of propane to run the fire !

well i am not braggin' I am just stating a fact if i was to brag I would tell you what I paid for most of it ......
most good reloaders have a large surplus of most components ,they aquire from researching different loads you may buy a pound of a certain powder only to find out your favorite rifle don't like it so you try another and another till you find the most accurate, the rest of the stuff is just planning ahead 90% percent of the stuff I have ,I have had for quite a while way before there was any sign of a shortage. you see when you run across a great deal you just have to stock up in order to save some money.... a long while back if you remember Sportsman's warehouse went out of business , and yes all of the stock was liquidated....... the rest is history !
