The thing I like about TGT is that it allows the free market to really be free. Someone can ask what they want, and the buyer can offer what they want - there's nothing to require either to do any more or less. I've found killer deals there - and others remain for sale.<G> In my mind, it's better than a flea market - because I don't have to leave the desk to see how insane someone can be! One way to see how others feel about the pricing is to bookmark the listing and check back on it in a couple of weeks - if it sells, then maybe your value perception is a bit off. If it's still there, then maybe they're ready to listen to a reasonable offer......

I'm new to this site, but in the last three weeks, I've bought two items at less than their value. I do wish those who are unrealistic with there prices would stop, that would save me a lot time filtering through the mess. This is a good site. The needy sellers want more than the gun shop or pawn shop will pay them. The buyers are getting a good deal. Yes it is tedious to look around each listing that is BS, but I'll keep coming back.

Sometimes it depends on which side of the fence you're on. For example I have a gun on now that at a gun shop down the street has for $919 with no night sites add tax and it looks like about $1000. I've had mine up for $800 with night sites and acc. and no offers. I'm sure a lot of people are thinking that $800 is way too much. It may be to them but the dollar ain't what it used to be. That dollar is worth even less next year. Example I bought a 4' ladder from Xmart for $17 not too many years ago that ladder is $28 today, a couple years ago my motherinlaw bought a bike for $399, that same bike now costs $499. Add in additional taxes also. It's all perspective. I tend to use Academy and WalMart as bench marks. If they have what I want cheaper I buy it.

Sometimes it's also an issue of availability. I've recently negotiated a deal on an IMI Uzi (Model A) that's NIB with a dozen new IMI mags. Paid more than I really wanted to, but by the same token, try to find a NEW Model "A". I think I 'bout gave the old boy a coronary when I told him that my intention was to convert it to a suppressed SBR for "fun plinking" - but that's MY choice. I paid a bit of a premium over Model A's that've been shot - but not much, and at least I'll KNOW the round count on this one!
Had one many (12) years ago, and in today's dollars got about what I'm gonna be paying for this one, so all in all I think I did okay. Others may not agree - but frankly, I don't care!

Its a free market, sure, but Trader users must live for the sucker that come along and have no idea. Its fundamentally wrong to prey on people.
I went ahead and deleted the bookmark. Not bothering anymore.
disagree completely

Have a nice day!

I agree with you man, I've bought and sold a few things on here. Some might call my prices a bit "high" but that's why they all say OBO

It's simply economics. Everyone wants a deal, if you post it for your bottom dollar you have no wiggle room so it's harder to move. If you post it 10% above your bottom dollar you have wiggle room and you both walk away happy.

I've come down on price of everything I've ever listed here and still gotten what I needed out of them and the buyer was happy.

I for one don't plan to delete my bookmark anytime soon, too many deals pop up I'm willing to pay for. If it's more than I want to spend, I just pass it up and keep on looking. No harm no foul.

I've seen some rediculous prices on there too, but it's generally stuff I wouldn't buy anyway. I've recently picked up some firearms from there at a decent price.

On the other side of the fence, I've listed stuff on there for quite a bit less than it's market value and still had people email me saying I'm charging too much. They don't have to buy it, but then again - it's still in my gun safe because I refuse to get ripped off too.

All the best,
Glenn

I have done well and have turned stuff down also.
$1.50 each for spent 30 carbine brass was stupid
$0.09 each, I jumped on that

Doing a deal this evening, will report on that trade
