Default TGTrader is a sick joke

To the good people that started and work so hard for Trader, I Apologize.
Out of shear boredom I stopped in this afternoon. Nothing new, except some newer and even more stupidly high prices, for stuff that can be found new and cheaper from other advertisers here on this board.
Its a free market, sure, but Trader users must live for the sucker that come along and have no idea. Its fundamentally wrong to prey on people.
I went ahead and deleted the bookmark. Not bothering anymore.

There's been a multitude of threads on this matter and people are generally in one camp or another. That being said, from what David, the owner of TGTrader, has told me there are alot of good deals that pop up on the site and are generally snagged up quickly. I know when I listed my .380 Auto ammo I had no less than 10 emails in an hour's time.

I think as availability increases in both ammo and guns, you'll see more and more deals on the site. I've seen alot of guns for wishful prices, and alot of guns for fair prices. Just give it a while to find it's comfort zone as theirs been alot of madness lately in the market.

Nothing wrong with venting your fustration either.

Agreed......lots of overpriced guns there. The good ones are gone quickly - if they're 1911's, usually to me.

Same here they are there but not for long, the over priced ones are there forever. I personally don't mind spending a wee bit more on a FTF transaction so that the man don't know what I got.

Good deals are on the site, but they really do get snatched up quickly. I sold my Kel-tec PF-9 in less than 20 minutes. Once I sell something I close the ad, there is no trace of it like on gun talk forums or closed auctions like on eBay.

So, its you!!!!!

There are a few good deals on there but they do get snatched up pretty quickly. On the other hand, there are a lot of people I swear are hitting the crack pipe before they post their ads. There are a few people up North(of Houston that is) that always have some really nice 1911's but they always price them about $400 higher than you can buy them on Gunbroker. I always wanted to ask them if they really sell any of them..............

Lawd, ah HOPE so - if ah miss any, lemme know!

Every once in a while, the devil jumps on my shoulder, an' I'll engage one of the Price Fantasizers in a week or two of gradually-declinin' emails of interest - at the end, I send 'em links to 4 or more posts from others with MUCH cheaper offerings, an' tell 'em I bought one of THEIRS. That usually results in a price drop. One guy had one up for a month or better - when emailed, he responded promptly and honestly, saying he wasn't sure WHAT a fair price was, but someone had suggested that number to him, and as a result he was getting ZERO interest. I explained to him that I already owned one of the type he was selling, what I paid for it and what Blue Book and other sources indicated it to be worth. He adjusted his price, sold it within hours and then took the time to say "thank you!" for helping him. Rare, but it gives me hope that some folks CAN be lead!

That sounds like a really good idea if the guy actually has something I want. He usually has a bunch of new Kimbers, a couple of Baer's, and a few Wilson's but his prices are ridiculous. I guess I always figured that he is really looking to screw someone because he couldnt be that out of touch with reality.

I know who you're talking about and yeah - I feel his prices are to the high side. Then again, he HAS them on hand - and a lot of shops don't. I lucked into my Ultra CDP the other day - about the time I got my hands on it to look at it, 2 others were wanting to as well. When I said "sold", the one guy got bummed out - he'd been looking for 6 months!
So, I don't begrudge someone their prices. The best thing you can do is make a sincere, fair offer - and they can either accept it or continue to try selling it - and you can continue to try to find one at your price. Life's too short to get all worked up about that. MY issue is with the EBG's and such where the guys are trying to get 1500-2k for some cheesed-out AK/SKS.

Dont get me wrong, I am the biggest fan of capitalism, he can charge what he wants, makes no difference to me. I do my homework and dont have to pay it if I dont want to. I was just really curious to see if he really gets those prices. There is nothing I havent been able to find on Gunbroker for a lot cheaper than you can buy it in town. Even with the FFL transfer my shop charges me, not having to pay sales tax, it comes out much cheaper unless you just happen to stumble onto the right deal on TGT.
