Haha. I've purposely avoided anything considered Mexican food out here. The hot pastramis and bagels at the Jewish delis and the food in Little Italy are something else.
I found a decent Mexican food place on Staten Island back in 2006. It was right next to an Irish Pub, and I can’t remember the name of either one of them, or have any idea if either of them is still open.

You can say that about many cities. When I was TDY to Alameda I would often go to San Francisco for the food.

Even having visited China and Italy a few times each; San Francisco (Chinese), and Australia (Italian) had some of the best of each ethnic food I've ever had.

Australia had some excellent Greek cuisine also.

Briefly passed through NYC in the middle of the night; but you're right:
Those Jewish deli's in that part of the world, including Montreal, are unlike anywhere else.

Most of the Jewish and German Delicatessens have given way to Bodegas in NYC and surrounding Suburbs. The old Pizza Kitchens In Local Bars, Small Pizza Places and Italian Restaurants that used to produce some of the best pizza in the world have all but disappeared. I consider ‘Tony’s Pizza’ in the Jacksonville Mall, NC (near Camp Lejune) to be the best Pizza Place around. Tony (owner) hails from Brooklyn.....
