The upper is a thing of beauty, ordered FDE fore grip. Great color that I didn't know I chose. If the lower is black I may change out the furniture for FDE. Picking colors on a screen is always a gamble for the colorblind. Carry handle is mounted. the BCG has been fondled and cleaned along with the bore. The lower was delivered to the FFL today at 4:30. So tomorrow has a great chance of being a range day. Ordered 4 more mags from a member here. And the wife said just let her know when I buy more ammo. She also opined that a total of 6 mags may not be enough. Things are looking up. Knock on wood
Had to happen. Wife called a meeting at the restaurant. After that a son needed a ride to get his car. Leaves with other boy, and nobody is left to carry the old man to the FFL. I'm going to ask, but history shows that guy goes nowhere near the store on Saturdays. So I am steeling myself to not just pout till Monday. Just keep repeating, I will have a good weekend anyway

Its No wonder how those things get into the country, well except for the possibility that customs paperwork and declarations forms are complete fabrications. The kids and wife order shit from there from time to time as well as other chicom crap and not one declaration form ever accurately described what was inside. It probably wouldn't matter if they said "contains weapons grade plutonium " cause of the sheer volume of chicom crap imported daily.

Nice. If you want to make it that much closer to your old gau, brownells has reproduction xm carbine stocks and A1 pistol grips. Numrich also has quite a few surplus A1 parts you can buy. The stuff I got from them recently was pretty good.
Yeah, I have been slobbering over the carbine section at Numrich. But I'm on the fence now that I have it. I like its looks.and I love The FDE color of the fore grip. The grenade launcher flash hider is going to be added. And I love the iron sights, but found a rail for the carry handle that will allow an optic. Y'all convinced me I need one. My GAU is turning into a FrankenBuild. And I am kinda having a good time at it. But the next stop is some sighting in at the range. If Barry the storm will dry up.
You can add an a1 pistol grip without replacing anything other than your current grip.
Ive used a few scopes on carry handles, and they aren't that great. Its useable if you have an actual a1 or a2 upper, but its far from ideal
Well it did not rain on us Monday.But I was soaked thru and thru from the weather anyway. Went to Carters North and invested a few hours. Most fun I've had in a long time. Shooting my very own AR. No trouble sighting in the gun even with my old eyes.
Note; insert me screaming obscenities and wondering why is my wife's desk on fire. Our study has it's own window AC, plugged in to an extension able to take much more than the little AC can require. but unbeknownst to me that extension was plugged into another weaker one instead of the wall where it is now. All this became apparent when the lights went out and the smoke alarm began to scream with me. All is well now. some melted and singed stuff, that is easy to replace. And it is a while later than when I started this post.
Anyway, I had a great time at the range. Thanks to all that encouraged me to pull the trigger on a new rifle. I like the PSA more than I think I would have Liked the DPMS Oracle.
I'm taking any ideas to get the stink out now. Three fans and an open window is not working so well or fast anyway.
