Ok first off , O am a newbie to this site. Looks really nice. Anyway, I am looking at a subcompact for concealed carry. I got it down to the sig P938 and Ruger LC or maybe Ruger EC. I ahve not shot either and am wondering if someone has an opinion

    Welcome to TGT.

Since I own a 938, I'm say that would be my choice. I'm more of an all steel, single action guy. I think they shoot pretty good..imo. I'm pretty accurate out to 15 yards with mine. I've only handled the Ruger, never shot the Ruger so no opinion. I'd say try to rent both and see which one shoots best for you.

I own a P938 and have shot the LCP. Well, the LCP, not the LCP II. The one I shot was a DAO, I think the LCP II is not DAO. You can also pick up an LCP for less than half what some P938's cost. I really enjoy shooting the p938. Great trigger, nice gun to handle, and I like SAO. They're very much different kinds of guns though.

I can't speak to the 938 but I do own an LCP Custom. It's a version of the original LCP with a wider skeletonized trigger, an improved guide rod and higher sights. It's a very good little pocket gun that's fairly snappy. It's extremely easy to conceal in almost any situation. I'm now partial to the Kahr PM40. While a bit larger, it's both more powerful and has less muzzle rise (or snap). Honestly, try them both at a local range and see how they feel to you. You should love the feel and want to carry it.

    Welcome to the forum.

The 938 and 238 are more comfortable to shoot than the LCP (first edition).

When my wife was looking for a carry pistol we tested an LCP and didn't care for it. She didn't like the trigger and ended up buying the 238. Loves the 238 single action only trigger.

Her's has the pink aftermarket grips.

I bought momma an lcp 1st gen the year the came out.
She loves it and can hit what she's aiming at.

She won't give it up for nothing.

Welcome. You might check the recent thread on deep concealment for other options. IMHO, I don't like either for pocket carry. You mentioned concealed carry so of the two, I would choose the P938.
Maybe check the LGS and compare them to others or see if you can rent them at a local range. I'm biased like most folks, my choice would be a Kahr CW9 for a single stack sub-compact 9mm

I got rid of my lcp2 not too long ago. No issues with mine I just feel the smallest gun I wanna have currently is my xds.

Haven’t shot the sig but would like to.

You’re trying to compare apples and oranges. I’m a 1911 guy, and until last week, my pocket gun was an LCP II but now its a Sig P365. My son who’s not a 1911 guy, pocket carries a 938. The LCP or LCP II is a 380 acp, that is a little bit snappy in the hand because of how light it is. The 938 is basically a really compact 1911 that shoots 9mm and is less snappy because of it’s weight. You would need to shoot each to determine what feels good to you.

Between the two, I prefer the LCP because I don't want a manual safety on my carry gun. I pocket carry the new plastic fantastic guns or a J frame revolver. The Sig is a nice little gun but I don't want to carry cocked and locked in my pocket.
If I'm carrying on my belt, which isn't very often, I'll carry a larger gun.

I have an LCP and I like it a lot. It’s easy to carry in a pocket holster.

The LCP is a tiny .380. Personally, I don’t find the LCP any “snappier” than most subcompact 9mm pistols. It’s not a range gun; it’s a deep concealment pocket gun. You’re not going to want to put 500 rounds down range in a session. But it’s easy enough to shoot that I don’t mind running 50 rounds at a time through it.

I find it a lot more pleasurable to shoot than a .38 snubnose.

The sights on the regular LCP are minimalistic at best. But it’s not designed for a 25 yard shootout. It’s designed for up close and personal use.

I've only fired the original LCP, not the LCP II but it was one of my least favorite guns I've ever fired. I carried a P938 for awhile and was happy with it. On the off chance you haven't considered it, I've switched to a Sig P365.

There are a whole bunch of small 380s about the same size as the LCP and I guess I own at least one of each of them and that includes one of the most recent iterations of the LCP. Frankly, I find the LCP not just at the bottom of the stack but in fact way way way at the back of the list.

In the P938 size and class I have the P290RS in both 9mm and 380.

BUT, my hand is not your hand and you really need to shoot before you buy. Check for a club in your neighborhood or a range where you can rent some handguns to see what works best in YOUR hands.
