Has anyone tried to do that, and approximately how long did it take for you to receive the new licence?
Agree that it's stupid fee. Probably even saves the state money. IIRC tho, it's only 2 bucks. The obvious advantage of doing it on line is worth it IMHO. You have the assurance that it actually got done without worrying about whether the post office delivered it, when they delivered it, what DPS did with it after it was delivered. You avoid the hassle of filling out the form, finding an envelop and a stamp. I think a stamp is 68¢. So is it worth the difference of $1.32?

They also charge that fee for renewing your driver's license on line and renewing your vehicle registration on line.

Basically the fee is what the credit card company charges the state. For some teason or law they have to charge. At least that is what I was told once

Thanks for the info, I thought the fee is $27; appears that's the TOTAL charge
I gotta learn some more reading...

I don’t know what you are looking at but looks like a change of address is $11, including the fee. Make sure you are going to the real Texas DPS website and not some scammer site trying to make money.
