After 10 years of kinda hunting (keeping my good eye out), I finally found a like new Ruger M96 lever .22lr in Indiana. It's on it's way. :D I probably paid too much, Chinese SKS money, but they're just not found in the wild anymore. It's my understanding that you can use 10/22 mags in a 96 but not the reverse. I guess the 96 mag is flat bottomed not curved. I'll need glass if I want to hit what I'm looking at. This lever gun has been on my list alongside a Ruger International stocked 10/22 and a Ruger #1 in 7X57 Mauser. PAX

Always wanted one of those. My cousin has a 96/17 which I always liked. I'd pick one up too, if I found one in that condition..

You could tacti-cool it with a Black Dog Machine 50 round drum + an optic.
    Thanks fells,

I have 4-10/22s in various forms of praticool and dozens of 10s, 25s an two 100 rounders. I like the cleanliness profile of the lever, PAX

The Marlin 55 & 57 were always better shooting rifle's than the Ruger 96. I've had them all. The only plus for the Ruger was being able to use the 10/22 magazines.
Winchester also had the 250 & 255 short throw lever actions.

I had a Malin 39 & a saddle ring '94 decades ago. The traditional lever is always sharp, but I wanted the 96 for looks & the mag interchangeability. I have other "normal" levers, PAX

If you ever get tired of it, send it my way. I have always wanted one of those too.

Found a listing for an International on "Georgia Gun Shop" for dirt but they're a scam. PAX
