Haiti hasn’t always been a completely disorganized craphole. For now though, the Caribbean island nation shows us a real-time example of just how the veneer of civilization is thinner than most people think. With a bona fide cannibal gang leader now in charge, thugs with guns are the law. I worked on U S Border Security strategy 20 years ago. We looked at the most and least secure borders in the world to model successful strategies and tactics.

The most secure borders are overwhelmingly “Deterrence by Reputation”: You cross our border illegally (land / sea / air) , we will …(generally) kill you first then ask questions.

For some reason, few people attempt to cross the Chinese, Israeli, (former) Berlin Wall or Korean DMZ the way they come across the US southern border….
As the Chinese proudly said, “Shoot 1, scare 10,000.” If the US took that attitude, we’d have substantially no migrant deaths, rapes, fentanyl deaths and kidnappings from cross border crime.

I'm also noticing a lot of very wealthy immigrants coming here to purchase homes lately. Had a guy from Argentina, very wealthy- subtle things tip you off, certain jeans, coats, etc. F1 racing kind of $$. Very nice, well spoken, polite, but floodgates are open.
