Hope Chicago fades from Olympic site, would hate to see Olympic contestants from all over the World and the US to be exposed to the rape, robbery mugging, and other crime of that cesspool....

How is that a 1A issue?

I can see a coloration. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press comes to mind. I guess maybe it is clouded by the station director ordering the stop of the stories, but it appears only because of pressure from the Olympic Committee which is disingenuous at the minimum. So it sounds as if a news organization has a controversial story, and gets pressure from special interests groups, they just kill it so as to "play nice". How do you see it as not being that way?

The 1st says that CONGRESS will make no law......

I don't think the Olympic committee is part of congress, or any other government agency.

This has zero to do with the 1st amendment.

While it might not be congress and might not literally be a true 1A issue....it still desensitizes the media to taking down controversial stories. So when congress does actually pass a law, its no big deal. Conspiracy...maybe, maybe not. Bad idea? Most definitely!

That's how I see it as well.

If the FCC was threatening to pull the station's license I could see a 1A threat, but the local Olympic committee is entitled to their opinion on the story the same as anyone else. No doubt there are local residents who are both for and against the idea of their city holding the events as well. It's possible the committee was threatening to involve the FCC, but that wasn't mentioned in the story linked.

Shame the Fox station director doesn't have a backbone.
