Really, how can the judge offer a divorce when Texas does not recognize that they are married? Gay marriage is banned, therefore, how can they get a divorce?

I see this as a back-door (excuse the pun) way to push their agenda. I wonder if they are trying to set precedent for gay marriage? So, would that same judge be interested in giving a divorce to some dude and his donkey......point being, I don't see how they can offer help to something that's not recognized. It's like suing someone over a bad drug deal.

The left wing agenda is definitely at play. Suprised it took this long or that the left didn't throw in some ringers.

What I find funny is they wanted marriage ... they got it.

Precedent: Since we got divorced, we must have been married, therefore gay marriage must be lawful.

And, then they will use this to prove that they are recognized [as married] in the state of Texas to receive all benefits afforded married couples under the law.

I question the motivation of the judge.

Well, you guys are looking at this from a very closed point of view. It would be wise to look at how states recognize other states licensing including marriage.

IF Texas decides to recognize marriages from other state, which is pretty much does, you don't have to get married again when you move here from another state, then it can then be argued that concealed carry licenses should be recognized across state lines as well. So even though this didn't get handled at the federal level, the Texas court can back itself into a corner whereby it can't pick and choose to recognize marriage and driver licenses from other states, but not CHL/CCLs.

Good Lord willing, a LOT of that issue will be begun by the SCOTHUS when they look at the latest gun law suit in front of 'em......the other (marriage vs. gun laws) is too apples & oranges, I think.

While what two consenting adults do is their own business, when they bring it into public it becomes MY business - and my thoughts on that whole issue aren't even CLOSE to PC.

I like your logic, but would like to offer it from another angle. The state of Texas already picks what it wants to recognize from other states when it comes to CHL's. Why then, should gay marriage be different? We recognize CHL's from states with requirements that are as strict or stricter (real word?) than ours.......so why should we recognize a marriage from a state that doesn't hold to the same standards? I see man/man & woman/woman marriages as being a little lax in the standards department....bam, not accepted.
