LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police said a 1-year-old boy was in critical condition one day after his mother wounded him and fatally shot his older brother.
Authorities said 26-year-old La' Tonya Dixon was being held on more than $1 million bail Sunday, and her 1-year-old son was clinging to life at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Police say Dixon opened fire Saturday, wounding the 1-year-old and fatally shooting his 5-year-old brother at their South Los Angeles apartment.
Officer Norma Eisenman says Dixon was arrested after a standoff with police when she briefly put down her handgun and officers tackled her.
The 5-year-old was declared dead at the scene. Authorities say the younger brother survived despite multiple bullet wounds.
Police reached Sunday night did not know if Dixon had hired an attorney
