CORPUS CHRISTI - Local Attorney David Bonilla has been disbarred, and as of Nov. 29, will no longer be eligible to practice law in Texas.
A State Bar disciplinary committee found he committed professional misconduct related to a 2004 personal injury case.
Meanwhile, Corpus Christi police are still getting lots of calls from people who claim to be victims of Bonilla. The longtime lawyer was indicted last week, accused of holding his clients' money related to settlements or divorce cases and refusing to hand over the money when requested.
The district attorney's office is trying to help out investigators by taking phone complaints and the cases are being separated into categories of civil or criminal investigations.
You can see the Judgment of Disbarment document here (Adobe Acrobat .pdf).
