I sat here for the past hour going through all of my machinists tools, trying to figure out what I could get rid of to feed my family. I cataloged $5000 worth of measuring equiptment and figured I have to get rid of all of it to get what I need monetary wise, and probably wont even see 1/3 of what I paid for it. I worked hard for my stuff, and now, I see everything, everything that I worked hard for just going down the shitter. If things dont start looking up soon, I may have to start selling kidneys and part of my liver on the black market just to keep living.

But Obammy keeps telling us, "oh, the market is turning around, but it takes time for the companies to hire back the people that were laid off, but even most of them have went on to something else, and most of the time its a better job." I watched him say those words to David Letterman the other night. How can you lie to someone like that on national television until you're blue in the face? I guess he did it so much he turned black in the face (and not meant as a racist comment). I'm fed up guys. Its been since July 9th since I worked. Yes, I may only have been a little over three months, but you have to understand, I have NEVER, EVER not had a job.

Its friggen killing me to sit around, mowing the yard everyday, trimming the bushes, and hell, even went so far as to sit out on the front porch and offer people who were walking by if I could cut their yard. I am going nuts.... Where's my meds?

Can you make/fix/modify gun parts? A friend of mine has kept himself afloat making small custom gun parts. Does NOT pay well but keeps food on the table and the bills and mortgage paid.

I have nothing to offer but my best wishes and prayers!
May God find mercy for out country that in the past 20 years had cast him aside in the name of Political Correctness and restore us and bring us peace and resolve to over come and restore the values and ethics that made this great nation.

I've actually talked to my dad about getting a small mill/lathe combo for things such as this. I love doing small jobs like this. I just love making something out of nothing. I have made parts for my firearms; firing pins and a bolt for our AK/22. Nothing big, but I just love it. I'm bored... LOL I need something to do...

I understand how you feel man been there done that many years ago, it will get better, but I would add for all that if you have a family get out of debt or work on it now,own your home even if it means down sizing, debt free makes it much more difficult for the idiots in DC to hurt you.

Been out of work myself since the first week of June.. I'm only 24, but I've been wokring since I was 16. Kinda makes me feel less of a man b/c I'm not out punchin the time clock every day... The wife is there for moral support.. but moral support doesn't pay bills... or buy ammo. Been applyin to all of the sporting goods and security companies in the area... haven't had any good news yet... The whole "sitting at home not working" thing is driving me nuts!!

Sorry to hear about the loss of jobs for the 2 of you. Have y'all tried hospitals in the areas where you live? They need people to register patients, maintenance people to keep the hospital up and running, security, people to clean the hospital, etc........

    Good luck.

Yeah.. The hospitals and retail pharmacies were the first places I applied (I'm a certified pharmacy tech), but retail aint hiring, and I'm not IV certified so the hospital/clinic option is a no-go

Ya know Craig, that was the first thing that popped in my mind, going back to school to become a nurse or something in the medical field. There are four jobs that always need someone. Fire department, Police, Truck drivers and the medical field. I have been calling the lady at the TWC about the WIA program and she still hasnt returned my calls, and its starting to get me a little peeved. Hell, I have even thought about going back in to the military, called the Air Force recruiter but they told me that I was too old (I am only 29 and in damned fine shape), but I know for certain that I have a helluva better head on my shoulders than all of these friggen pingers. I was going to talk to the Army, but the wife told me hell no, that she doesnt want me overseas.

But the PD here in Wichita Falls is hiring and my app has been accepted but have to wait until Nov 14 for the interview and PT test. I am praying that this goes through, but I need something to do for the next two weeks. I even sat at the local 7-11 and filled out an app there last night, and my wife was calling me crazy for sitting there at 23:00 filling out an app. But I am the only one making any effort, and she cant work because she is disabled.

I have been praying that things will get better, but perhaps God has a different plan for me, and I trust Him to know what He is doing.

Things will get better. Like the old adage says, "Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better...", and I am still optimistic and will not let this get me down...

I think we all feel your predicament and understand. I pray that you do not have to sell your hard bought machinist tools and the LEO job or another pans out for you.

We all know the lessons of buying and selling. When one buys nowdays the article is valued llike 24K gold but when forced to sell it is viewed as
    tin plated.

Its tough but hang in there strong !!!!

Brad you are doing the absolute best thing (as high-lited above). Being an RN has been incredibly rewarding. I have a lot of long days, but not too many bad days.

If you do decide to go the RN route let me know. I'll help out as best I can, just PM me. Also, Midwest State has a great 2 year radiology (x-ray tech) program. I have known several people who went thru the program and are very happy and successful.

In either field (RN or Radiology) you can go anywhere, and it also opens other doors if you get tired of patient care.

Best of luck with the LEO application.
