At some point and soon I fear the SHTF will take place.
In Mexico the drug cartels have so much money and power that the police and government workers work for them in fear of their life and that of their families.
This is spilling into Texas and other boarder states where drug routes are established.Even the news papers are afraid to print the news for fear of reprisals.
These cartels are well trained in military tactics and have the weapons to support such tactics.
US boarder patrol has been warning our government for years what was going to happen and have begged for more funds to fight this war but when it comes time to cut spending this is one of the 1st places that see's a cut
We are fighting a war in the middle east to protect oil reserves needed by Great Britten and the US (Study the history of this part of the world after WW2 and you will see oil is why we are there)
My point is we have our neighbors to the south with weak and corrupt governments that can not or will not do anything about these cartels.
Since the media is afraid to print much on this subject for fear of reprisal our government acts like "No News is Good News" and allows American citizens to be killed and held hostage in these boarder towns.
IMO we are fighting the wrong war.
Our government is more worried about protecting big business interest in the middle east and less concerned for it citizens here at home.
    Rant over!

    live by the sword......
    die by the sword.......
another thug will move in and take his place,
    business as usual
The same goes with a gun.
If you play the game long enough eventually you gonna loose. The thing with the cartels that MadMo is ranting about is true I rant about it every chance I get to who ever I can get to listen. There are times however that the media needs to be kept in the dark or forcibly made to not report on something. Are the cartels as bad as people say they are. YES! They were trained by the members of our special forces to fight the same way our boys fight. The way I understand it is that MS 13 was started by some of these people that we trained And now they are guns for hire to the different cartels. I think if I were in the same seat B-Rock is in now, my first unofficial official action would be to start sending SEALs and DELTA in to take care of the cartels on a quiet need to know basis. And if that don't work I'd tell whatever corrupt bastard that they call "president" at the time that he has 2 months to get the cartels under control or we (the us military) are going to do it for you. By "do it for you" I mean we are going to give the boys and girls in uniform what they need overseas and the rest is going to our border to "help" Mexico with the cartels. I'm going to stop ranting now before I really get off topic.

These things happen everyday in the US too. Mostly by gang bangers who don't know how to be discreet, but none-the-less it is the same principle.

I think the US should stop training Mexican forces since they cant or wont figure out whos a good guy or a bad guy. Mexico can hire our private contractors to handle up on cartels and the like.

But allot of the guys in the private contract field would be swayed by the money as well. Not all of them I'm certainly not trying to imply anything. But the money is what breeds crooked cops on both sides of the border, I think the best way to handle the cartels is to send in men from another area completely have them hit a targeted site and then split for the hills. If you start moving officers down to the border region then that is where their families will be and the week spot of most fighting men and women I would think would be their families. Because they can't protect everything all at the same time. I'm just throwing my opinions out here tho.

The US won't get involved because its bad for business. Drug money is a huge part of America. Sad but true.

I agree with Big Country that sending in an outfit such as Blackwater would not be the best idea because of the amount of money the Cartels can throw at them.

I saw that episode of gangland last night. They were talking about the I-35 corridor being the biggest outlet for trafficking and a hotspot for turf wars. Then they showed a pic of the highway in New Braunfels! At the Walnut Ave. exit. Thats less than 5 miles from my house!

I felt like the information they were covering was from a few years ago. It seems like Juarez is the new hot spot.

Tom Clancy wrote a book about that...he also wrote a book about someone flying a passenger airliner into a government building well before it happened. I remember my dad stopped reading his books b/c he swore something like that could never happen. Unfortunately, by the time it happened for real someone else was writing Clancy's books for him.

I brought up the suggestion at a defense symposium that flight training software could be utilized to help pilots learn to use commercial and private jets for terrorist attack 9 months before 9/11. The idea was balked at as unrealistic. No idea is ever too outrageous, IMO.

I wasnt implying that New Braunfels is a hotspot far from it.(i hope) Just that it was shocking to see my hometown on that particular program. But if you want to check out Juarez let me know i aint going anywhere near the border.

Funny, while I was reading this post, the Today show JUST ran a story, about how the city of Naples are putting ex-cons in yellow vests, and putting them to work as tour guides.

MS 13 has claimed the IH-35 corridor as their turf, from Mexico to Chicago. Or at least they had as of about a year ago. Last year I had the privilege of working with some fine members of DPS at a .gov post that I was working at doing a fire watch detail. Have any of you seen the video of the Schertz(sp) officer that was getting shot at just out side of New Braunfels a few years ago? I met and kinda worked with the trooper that responded to that call. You can see him in the dash cam vedio if you're paying close attention. Anyway New Braunfels Round rock and Georgetown are all hit by these cartels you may nit here about it much but it's a fight going on every day. There was a huge incident involving a drug runner a while back in Round rock and about 2 or 3 years ago there was a high speed chase threw Georgetown that ended with a smashed hotel sign at 2243 and IH-35 and one suspect getting away via the San Gabriel river. I learned working with those fine Gentleman (and Ladies) that there are all kinds of things that never make the news. And they happen closer to home than you might think.
P.S if one of those troops is seeing this it was an honer and a privlige to have worked with all of you.

That MS 13 is full of some bad dudes. Just a couple of years ago they boarded a bus full of women and children in Guatemala and shot almost 50 people to death. It was done by MS 13 in protest to a government crackdown on their gang. If that ever happened on U.S. soil the news media would certainly cover it, but mostly in the context of "why didn't law enforcement do something about MS 13 sooner if they knew they were this dangerous," or something like that. :banghead:

The sad part is due to our legal system and laws as well as the bleeding hearts of special interest our LEO's have their hands tied.
I do fear that at some point somewhere in this country the common man will get feed up and take the law in his own hands.
There are already many small groups out there that are gearing up for such a day.
If our government does not start taking care of what's happening here at home there may be no more "home" to take care of!
