I have been thinking of a compromise to Concealed Carry since I'm not of age. I EDC a 4.25 inch blade which could also be employed in a emergency, but have now been contemplating buying a cheap gun (TT-33,CZ-82) to have in a safe underneath the drivers seat. I know most of you are against leaving a gun unsupervised in the car, but it seems like It's my only option.

My question is should I do this? If yes what gun? If no why not?

I am guessing your not 21.

I believe having a gun in a safe defeats the purpose of having the gun in the car with you.

I would just carry a shotgun in the vehicle in your case.

Well I'm talking about one those small safes and I would only lock it when the car is parked.

For that I'd suggest something cheap and durable. Glock fits that, as does a .357 revolver. But if you're not 21, you will need to buy from an individual rather than from a dealer. If you were able to buy from a dealer, I would suggest one of the G17 police trade ins Cabela's is selling for $350. Saw a guy at the rang with one and it's a good deal. Even though I don't need one, it keeps crossing my mind to go get one.

What would happen to an underage person with a gun in their car if found by the Police?

The legal age of possession is 18 in Texas. You can possess a handgun earlier, but only with guardian permission. As long as he is 18, then nothing should happen (as long as he is in compliance with the laws that would allow any 21+ y.o. adult here to carry in his car).

At least, that is my internet mall ninja knowledge on the subject.

Be part of the solution, not part of the problem: don't leave guns floating around in your car. Like somebody already said, if you have it in a safe, the purpose is defeated because you can't get to it when you needed.

In my experience, a large Stillson wrench or a ball peen hammer is a very-multifaceted tool, with many potential self-defense applications. That may be a realistic solution to your problems, with none of the negative connotations of an axe handle or an aluminum baseball bat wrapped with tape.
