    I know I can't carry in a classroom or in an auditorium etc.

    But what about a football stadium? That's legal isn't it? As long as they don't have the 30.06 sign?

    I don't want to leave my gun in my car where it can possibly be stolen and just in case a terrorist style event (like Ft. Hood) happens while I'm at the game, I'd like to be able to protect my girlfriend and myself.

    Thanks

    I am not questioning your info DCortez, but I thought Texas changed some of the rules after the Virginia Tech incident. I admit I only heard this, not read it or anything concrete like that. Haven't had to renew yet, so haven't even asked an instructor. I welcome any correcting of my misinformation.

    Not that I've heard of. There was a bill, but it never got voted on.

    Ok thanks.

    I was under the assumption that it meant "classrooms" or "where education happens".

    Thanks.

    You are not allowed to carry at any school sponsored event either. That means say ......the school is sponsoring a field day in a park or a festival in a parking lot etc etc. If it is a school sponsored event then it is a nono.

    Here's a link to the current Concealed Handgun Statutes

    It would be a good idea to download that, then you would get the best answers instead of "hearing" about them.You don't want to loose your CHL over something someone on the internet told you.

    Law does not state that. You cannot carry in a school, public or private.

    No, depends on what is happening at the football stadium.

    Texas Penal Code
    Sec. 46.03. PLACES WEAPONS PROHIBITED. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly possesses or goes with a firearm, illegal knife, club, or prohibited weapon listed in Section 46.05(a):
    (1) on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution, whether the school or educational institution is public or private, unless pursuant to written regulations or written authorization of the institution;

    Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.

    (b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's person:

    (2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event;

    In addition to the high-school, collegiate, or professional sporting events, you're also excluded under Section 46.03 by the reference to "any grounds or building on which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted."

    Regardless of the event, the school stadium is generally going be considered off-limits, as you'll usually enter or pass through something that will fall under the "building or portion of a building" definition of premises.

    A non-school stadium is not off-limits by statute except when applicable events are taking place, or when effective notice under Section 30.06 has been given.
