I was contacted tonight concerning the 870 I have listed here. I sent an email with name and contact info as I normally do. During the course of several emails back and forth, this person refused to provide more than his first name (and I had to ask for that 3 times), and provided no phone number or other information about other boards he may be on. Gentleman kept insisting he had a CCL (not CHL) and stated he had cash to purchase now. I've done more than few transactions with people here and on other boards, and never run into anything like this guy. He might be legit, but all my instincts are saying he is more likely running a scam.

    His user name is Shiftworker.

    His email is Exit787@aol.com

If this is me just being paranoid I will apologize in a heartbeat and make amends. But, right now I'm offering a warning concerning this guy.

Anybody else dealt with this guy?

Get a few trusted and well prepared friends and go meet the guy. You'll find out for sure what his intentions are.

Personally, though, unless he lives in, or came from a state where they actually have a CCL instead of a CHL, he smells fishier than a mackerel and I wouldnt take any chances with him.

Set up the meet at the local LEO sub station or gun/pawn shop, that will either run him off or show he is legit.

Just go in ahead of time and explain to them what your doing...

If I remember right Florida and Louisiana call them CCL but I could be mistaken, it has been known to happen

I have seen them called CHP's on other forums due to being in different States.

DISREGARD: That orig. post for the 92FS was a month old. LOOOOONG GONE. Sorry, was TRYING to help. MY BAD !

FWIW, I would ask Shipwreck if he made a deal with him for that 92FS that he had listed on here. Might be able to offer info on if dude is shakey or not. The post was 11/19/09, as well.

Most scammers use yahoo, gmail, or hotmail emails. There are a ton of other emails that don't have any credit info but aol, comcast, sbcglobal, etc all do credit checks I believe or have cc on file to verify identity.

Though you can't completely rule it out based on that, someone could easily add a secondary account to a legit email account.

Also most scammers want to do things through the mail, absolutely won't meet in person, or give you a phone #. I had a shop for years we did a ton of selling on ebay and craigslist so I ran across about every kind of scammer out there.

    hope it works out.

I've done a few deals in the past (and that's a little bit of understatement), and when someone refuses to provide contact information there's usually something fishy going on. Bottom line, someone who won't provide a phone number, name and is new to the forum set off alarms. He might be a good guy, or not, but even though he's been back on this board several times, he's never offered an explanation of any kind. Others might walk into that kind of deal, but avoiding potential trouble is usually easier. Too many good people out there to deal with to justify dealing with someone like this. As before, take the warning for what it's worth.
