And you just now piping up about it??? Got any other hidden gems you have not told us about Ben????
I was specifically asked by my hosts to not publicize the club in any way. I abided by my promise until the cat got out of the bag via someone other than me.

The Brazos Rangers shoot at Greenwood Gun club, cant find their site right now.

Thanks. Right now I will leave it in these two posts only as it is farther out from what we set up the initial area limitations.

If we do expand our coverage range out to 100 miles from Houston downtown, we will include it then.

Since you seem to be up on this, do you know which CAS club shoots (or used to shoot) at the Tomball Gun Club?

I don't know exactly, but I think that a couple of members had built a stage for some practicing. I do not believe that they ever had a "Match" there. Of course I was wrong once, so this could be the 2nd time.

OK, this is just a basically info-free post, but - on the front door of Spring Guns and Ammo as well as in their latest newsletter, they're advertising their new outdoor range. Here's the text:

Four (4) hours of shooting. Long range, short range, run and gun, pistol & carbine drills. Steel and paper targets. Unlimited shooting and comradery with other gun enthusiasts.
    Two berms:

South berm will feature unlimited and continuous prone or bench rest rifle shooting from 100 to 600 yards.

North berm will feature continuous pistol or carbine drills.

Targets supplied (except for Sonic Boom or Shoot N' See - if desired).

Range Master on duty for safety and to help organize North berm drills. Range Master will be Chuck Persinger, who runs our Tactical Classes. Chuck will be available for training and tactical tips.
Defensive shotgun and flying disc targets available.

Limited to ten (10) shooters per day. Fee - $100.00
    Must be safe, experienced shooters.
They don't say where it is. The ad copy leaves me with more questions than answers. Anybody here have some ability to fill in the blanks for us?

I sent an email requesting where the range day will be held, this is the reply.....

"At the Outdoor Range in the Magnolia area. It is not open to the General Public.
    There is no address."

So this rules out a new SGA outdoor range, lol.

Other then American shooting centers what ranges in the Houston area are over 500yards?
Greenwood, Bayou Rifles, and Bay Area, based on their web sites and my personal knowledge. There are a couple of places that may have the room but their web sites are so bad you can't tell what facilities they actually have.

AFAIK, that's it. There are a number of 600-1000 yard ranges in Texas but almost all are private (invitation only) or clubs (membership only) or competition (match only) setups.

Dropped by the Woodlands location of Spring Guns & Ammo this afternoon. Some construction started on back side of the lot. Guy inside says they're building a 15 yard indoor range.

We need another short range like Obummer needs another term. NOT. Please somebody build a great long range shooting for the general public.
If you build it they will come.

I concur, but considering the land they've got a 20 yard range would have the backstop in their neighbor's yard. Sometimes you just gotta take what you can get. I generally don't care for indoor ranges but because of time and weather they can be convenient. Seeing as I drive by this place at least twice a day it may become useful in a pinch. Any range is better than nothing.

ETA: Shooter's Station in Conroe has a 100 yard indoor range open to the public.

Oh I know. I was there Monday. It's nice but I really wish for a 1000 yard public range within 2hours. Greedy I know.
