    I like and use the Haydels Jackrabbit call.
    I think it may be called a baby jackrabbit distress call.
    Cheap and has plenty of volume.

    Thats pretty much what I use also jackrabbit distress call I think a diff. brand though but works pretty good. One thing to think about only happened once but was standing in the back of a truck calling and heard something fly pretty close to my head, which turned out to be a horned owl kinda freaky.

    I have a 3 call set by E.J. Sceery that I have been using for years. It has a jackrabbit for windy days that really reaches out there, a cottontail call for calm days or fairly close up work and a squeaker for really close up work.

    I think the Haydel's has a squeaker on it not sure tho. I have a howler that would howl and do the wounded rabbit but I think I broke it playing around. LOL. I'd suggest getting a cheap wounded rabbit/squeaker combo then sit at the house and play with it till you figure out how to use it. If you're yote hunting remember to get the full camo out, the yotes have great eyes.

    In my experience hog calls are crap. If a hog hears a squealing hog or piglet, they know something bad is happening and will run in the other direction.

    I have had people tell me that sometimes if they are stalking boars when sows are in heat that grunting will get them to grunt back in challenge, but only sometimes, and that they usually will haul ass in the opposite direction.

    just my { I do have some expertise in this field}

    Yes hog calls are a waste of money! But they will come in every no and then to predator calls. I don't know why but I have seen them all bull charge a fox pro.

    Horned owl tastes a lot like bald eagle

    I bought a howler call a while back because I thought it would be cool while at night at the lease to hear them. Well, it was a cheap one and sounds nothing like a coyote howl. I don't know, maybe I am expecting to much. Duck calls sound like ducks why doesn't this thing sound like a coyote.

    When I tried it I was at my g/f's apartment and he dog went nuts. I thought to myself thats a sure sign it works, but I doubted it still. So it just sits in a drawer somewhere.

    I think there is a rather cheap electric hand held caller at Academy. Its around $30. Anyone know what I am talking about and if so have you tried it?

    I haven't tried it but I've heard it works pretty good. As far as the howler goes what kind is it? Is it the one with the exposed reed or is it all in the tube?

    If you get real serious about predator hunting you might want to consider a Fox-pro investment. I know it's almost cheating and I like my mouth calls more to. But with a fox-pro you can put there focus away from you by putting the sound away from you.

    Hell yeah they are that's why I don't have one. LOL! That and I like the mouth calls better. Yote bustin is fun and it's more rewarding to use mouth calls for me.

    It has a tube and the reed is inside and then there is another flex tube you can pinch off as well. This one looks like the one I am reffering to.
