Property tax is in my opinion one of the most unfair taxes that exist and I
sure don't want it used for abortions.

You'll love this. In Mexico, there's still a tax on the books that charges homeowner's based on the amount of linear feet of rain gutters they have. Next time you're in Mexico, you'll understand why rain gutters are so rare. Just thought I'd throw that in. BTW, property taxes are a crime IMO.

The vote was taken last night they unanimously voted to keep on doing this. I guess some of these politicians just don't like their current employment. I'm glad I don't pay property taxes or help pay them in Travis county.

I would be surprised if more then 10% of voters in Travis know what their property taxes is used on and that is simply the problem, some home owners I've talked with don't know the amount of tax they pay,"oh you know it's included with my monthly payment."

Wow ... how about they spend that money attracting some damn jobs for the hordes of people that are out of work? Or, doing some traffic studies to improve our crappy traffic problems.

Austin is ran by a bunch of dumbasses, always has, always will.

A speaker at the townhall meeting I attended tonight mentioned that there were 80,000 abortions in Texas last year. WTFudge!

80,000? Are they counting Plan B?

If there really are 80,000 abortions that is rather excessive. I find it hard to believe there are legitimate reasons for much of that, ie. rape, risk to the mother / fetus, etc.

I was hoping my old age had kicked in and that my ears were playing tricks on me ...

    • In 2005, 85,760 women obtained abortions in Texas, producing a rate of 17.3 abortions per 1,000 women of reproductive age. Some of these women were from other states, and some Texas residents had abortions in other states, so this rate may not reflect the abortion rate of state residents. The rate declined 8% since 2000, when it was 18.8 abortions per 1,000 women 15-44. Abortions in Texas represent 7.1 of all abortions in the United States.
