    Mreed911,

I suspect that lots of our members think that you & lots of other members (including me) are often "confused".
(And all this time I thought that you were a paramedic, rather than a grade-school English teacher.)

I'm many things, but careful about how I write since it might show up in court.

Being a 30+ year LEO, I'd have expected the same from you. :)

    Shady,

I have NOTHING whatever "against" our member "Southpaw". = Otoh, I actually DO get really tired of/provoked with, "self-important twits", hate-FILLED nitwits, filthy-talking idiots, "arrogantly ignorant fools in the public view" & other "self-appointed regulators" on "the worldwidewierd".

My generation happily leaves "gay sex" to the younger generations, who seem to be "into" that sort of thing.

    just my OPINION, satx

Now who is the internet nanny

    To ALL,

PLEASE refrain from the vulgar language, as LADIES & CHILDREN read this forum. = TGT is NOT the wall of a public toilet, on which you may freely smear "human waste", as if it was finger-paint. - Both Sandra & my daughter, for TWO "armed" LADIES, both read (though seldom post upon) the forum.

    Governors20,

In other words, NOTHING in your opinion is too crude/vulgar/filthy/disgusting to be posted on "the worldwidewierd", where impressionable children will view it??? = Like exploitive child pornography, for example???

Where is the explotive child porn thread on TGT? Have you reported that to the mods?

Otherwise, why are impressionable children viewing anything without their parents viewing with them, and why are they on TGT to begin with?

    Mreed911,

Once more, you either didn't read OR perhaps misunderstood OR are trying to twist what I asked "Governors20". = He had said to, "----- get off the Internet", rather than TGT.
(To my knowledge, nobody has posted child pornography here BUT there has been unsuitable language that, imVho, should not be posted in the view of children or ladies, just for good manners, if nothing else.).

Just like Open Carry and holster choice, language is up to interpretation here. The rule is, be more or less civil and don't overdo it, but it's not expressly forbidden.

What's unsuitable to you may not be unsuitable to me or any other poster here... and vice-versa.

So, ready for open carry? :)

    Mreed911,

QUESTION: YES or NO, is there NO language that you would prefer that was not posted/said in the presence of your wife/mother/young daughter/niece?

To answer YOUR query: While I will not routinely carry my handguns openly, when not engaged in "outdoor sporting activities", I plan to OC my Sig-Sauer P225 at The Alamo Shrine & in my "Sunday go to meeting" clothes, crocodile skin belt/holster/boots on 01JAN16.
On 02JAN16, I will return to my normal carry method: Concealed carry of my .38SPL S&W revolver, essentially 24/365.

Sure, but they're not here, and if I frequented a public place where that was more common, we wouldn't go there together.

I didn't think I'd OC much, but the "desensitization" argument really seems to hold water - getting people used to seeing law abiding gun carriers.

    Mreed911,

As I've been stationed in two OPEN CARRY states, I can assure you that hardly ANYBODY notices (or if they do notice) that they are "alarmed"/worry'/care.

In VA there are places where it is "traditional" for everyone to OPEN CARRY, including THE TACO HOUSE in Fairfax County. - Shortly after I arrived at my assignment to THE PUZZLE PALACE/Pentagon, a VA State Trooper Lt. invited me out to lunch & suggested that I wear "a handsome handgun/holster/belt, OPENLY." Thinking that "he was having me on", I put on a western-cut suit/tie & good boots with a Colt's Gold Cup in .38Super, in a nice rig.
(When I arrived at the cafe, I saw that essentially everyone was openly carrying & took the jacket off.)

The City of Alexandria was the ONLY place in the Commonwealth of VA where open carriers were harassed/detained/questioned/threatened with arrest & I avoided that place like the plague, whenever possible.
(Even out-of-town LEO are given a bad time there, as the mayor is a leftist RADICAL & has openly said that he wants NOBODY but APD officers to carry firearms in the city limits.)

True we must save the Children its not up to the parents to watch out for what the kids do or read or for the parents to turn on the profanity filter.

Because they've had OC. With it being new, people here, especially those against it, WILL see and WILL, ultimately, care. Hopefully they see enough guns and no violence and that thought is less prominent in their minds.

As for Alexandria, we went through that in another thread. From their web site:

    http://alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/police/info/OPEN CARRY VA.pdf

From forum reports more recent than the mid-2000's when there were more problems:

No problems in Old Town Alexandria.
I'm in LA (Lower Alexandria, some people call it) - near Mt Vernon. I've found nearly universal acceptance with open carry in the almost-ten years I've been here.
About three years ago an OCer was illegally detained and removed from a Barnes & Noble bookstore by Alexandria PD. Of course, the cops stonewalled the formal complaint and FOIA requests.

But, since then I don't think there have been any problems. Since then we've had plenty of reports from OCers walking around Old Town seeing the sights or certain events with no problems. I have this vague recollection that some were even directly observed by police without the police taking action.

If a business has a 30.06, but no 30.07, does that technically mean that you can open carry? If that's the case, all you would have to do is tuck in your shirt behind your holster so that it's not concealed, LOL. Is this a loophole?

My question to this is are you allowed to go "back and forth" between OC and CC? Open Carry was a subject we discussed in my CHL class a couple of years ago as it was a hot topic in the 2013 Legislature. The instructor stated as an example that one could not enter an establishment with a concealed weapon, go to another part of the facility (restroom) and come out with an Open Carried weapon. It was either or.

So if you can't go back and forth, then what conditions must be present for you to be able to change the condition of carry?

That instructor is full of shit, at least in terms of today's law. Maybe they had something different in 2013, but that's not how it is today.

If you have a CHL, per the law, on 1/1/2016 you could stand in traffic and flap your shirt if you wanted...

So let me get this straight. If I'm out walking my dog and she just happens to be OCing and someone sees it, will there be a DWAG call? And just one follow up question. Can my dog also CC or is it OC only for dogs.

    Mreed911,

IF I see someone, who looks at least neat/clean, carrying a handgun openly, I presume that they are a LEO of some sort. I suspect that I'm not alone in that opinion.

Will there be a "period of adjustment" in Texas? - I think YES but I also believe that, if enough people OC, that the novelty will soon wear off, everywhere but a FEW leftist DIMocRAT- dominated cities. = I fear that unlawful harassment of OCers will be the norm in for HOUSTON & AUSTIN, until the court "slaps the city's hands".

    just my OPINION, satx

This new open carry law is great! I got a new holster for my Glock 21 and carried openly all day long. Rocked out with my Glock out! Only got hassled by the police once.

Anyone have a quarter? They said I only get one phone call.
