Hot Wells is really convenient, but competition will obviously be limited to "who can put a hole in a certain place on a piece of paper you aren't allowed to touch until the kid goers and gets it for you" lol. Still better than sitting on the computer of course, so I'm inMaybe we could get together at Hot Wells on 290 some time for a fun shooting competition? Be fun to get to show off, swap and try some different firearms too.
We know the range hands and the managers pretty well. I was hoping we could talk them into letting us use the pistol range in the front. And let us have a range kid to change the papers every 10 or so minutes (per person). can probably work something out.Hot Wells is really convenient, but competition will obviously be limited to "who can put a hole in a certain place on a piece of paper you aren't allowed to touch until the kid goers and gets it for you" lol. That would be nice, but I'm sure we can handle changing our own paper tooWe know the range hands and the managers pretty well. I'll stop by this week and talk through some ideas with them. Agree, it would be cool to set-up something like you suggest. Stay tuned...That would be nice, but I'm sure we can handle changing our own paper too
What would be even better, is if we could put a bug in their ear about entertaining the possibility of more experienced/vetted folks being able to do more than just sit/stand and shoot at the same boring paper targets. Even simple, baby steps like setting up a couple steel plates or dueling trees and being able to shoot from the range side of the benches. Heck even setting up a members day kinda like they do on Sunday mornings for LE.
Been meaning to check out Hot Wells. Not sure how I feel about not being able to pull my own target.
That said, I'm game. Next few weeks are real busy for me, but I might be able to squeeze a few hours in.
Nobody is a fan of Hot Wells, it's just the closest range and convenience sometimes wins. I like the people just fine, I just don't like the ultra harsh restrictions and the lack of options. If I want to do anything beyond basic testing or sighting in a gun, I'm giving my money to someone else.I'm not a big fan of Hot Wells, but to each his own I guess.

It's really not a shooter's destination. It's basically a place for new comers to get a little trigger time with the gun they bought last week. That's what they're geared toward, and that's all the staff knows. Heck, even setting up a chronograph involved teaching the range kids what a chronograph was
5 seconds between shots on a pistol range. I knew there was a reason I have always driven past that place. I (continue to) pass.
Hot Well is better than Carter's Country that for sure. I went to Thunder Range last week. I don't know how anyone gets a good shooting stance with that BS they set-up on the 100yd lane. I got frustrated and left.
