QX3 flight with new flight mode and extended range.

Seems the wifi feed will start to glitch at around 150 yards. Still good enough for lining up a shot, but when traveling you gotta stop and wait for it to catch up. Elevation and position hold come in handy.

Quad is pretty quick in stability mode. Handles well. The gimbal has trouble keeping up at times with the faster movements of stability mode and full elevator seems to push a bit beyond the gimbals range of motion.

Will get the video when I get somewhere with some service.

Friday evening the air and water were dead calm so I flew the Apprentice not only over the water but back over the 'hood too. Soon after I noticed the 2 at a table behind me and a quick Hello was all it took for them to move the final 25' to the bulk head. The boy was intrigued but I was interested in Tasha (of the Redneck race, not that other one ). Her (strawberry-blonde) family owns a place across the road and I've lost count how many times I watched her (strawberry-blonde) back out and over their neighbors lawn.

I kept flying while small talk was exchanged and then suddenly, Tasha (strawberry-blonde) officially introduced herself. I noticed out of the corner of my eye she (strawberry-blonde) offered a handshake. *Gurr friend, I'm kinda busy hurr!!!!* Yes, I shook her hand


OK, y'all have heard me say many times kids need to touch, feel, do everything possible in order to learn so here's where I may be able to understand why she's divorced.


While still airborne I asked Todd if he'd like to help me fly it but he hesitated . giving Tasha time to say "I wouldn't in case it crashed it". *BITCH, I ain't asked you nuttin . I asked a boy if he'd like to play!* I made limited eye contact with her while saying *I expect that from an adult but he's a kid*. I respect her reserved, responsible attitude as the parent but I full well knew the risk I was taking and I wanted to do it.

Ultimately I held the Tx out in front of Todd and let him control the ailerons. First time out he did well .

I didn't see the horse. WHERE'S THE DAMN HORSE!!!

That's pretty slick, the camera remains level while the quad moves around it?

What does it do if you don't want the camera level? Say you want it pointed down ...

It can be adjust about 90 degrees from level to straight down with enough travel to compensate for the quads movement.

Adjustments to the cameras angle are made by flipping a switch and using the throttle stick. After 5 seconds it reverts to throttle control. Thought that might cause issues but it hasn't so far.

Where can I find the DVR 808 #16 V3 Lens D stateside??? Every place I've looked says they ship from China.

I've been monitoring Massive and they haven't had them in stock for the last 2 weeks.

Is there an affordable (ok, cheap) FPV system? Maybe in the $200 range?

This weekend I've been trying to fly to the opposite shore which is just shy of a mile but I have to bail and return cuz I lose depth perception.

I think the kits I've seen that include everything start around $350. Most of that is in the goggles it seems and the transmitters have a pretty limited range.

From my limited research, getting out to 1 mile+ takes a bit of an investment and possible a directional antenna on the receiver.

No expert though, I get lost in the tech talk.

Don't post much, mostly read. That's where I was reading up on FPV and keep circling back to "you aren't going to just go out and buy a prebuilt long range FPV setup".

I gave up on it for now, got other interests ahead of it.
