Please don't knock the revival of old posts. I'm a relative newbie on his site and don't have a lot of time to go through the old stuff. If someone finds something to interest them, so be it. If you think its old then just ignore it. I'm in the process of searching out and buying a 1911 myself and I try to read EVERYTHING I can on the subject. The only thing that would have been nice to know....is what the original poster decided on .....and WHY!

I'm not the original poster of this question. I have owned a few 1911s tho. Colt is a good one. I've had a couple. Could kick myself for selling them. But they are overpriced. I have a Kimber. Very nice gun, but again, overpriced. Rock Island - returned 3 times for warranty work. 3rd time they just bought it back. Also have a Ruger. Very nice. Not so pricey either. My next 1911 will probably be the new Ruger lightweight commander.

    Then do a search.

Digging up a thread close to 3 years old in unnecessary and a waste of space. Start a new thread if you want to.

However it is funny to watch people answer the question now knowing that their answer is probably irrelevant to the OP by this time.

    LMAO at Gregs comment.

This is nowhere near the first, nowhere near the last and nowhere near the most comprehensive resource for picking a 1911.

The answer to every "which gun should I buy" question is "the one that fits your budget, is the most comfortable and that you are the most confident with" all the rest is accessory information!

    sent from wait...where am I!?

Good point. There's a lot of historical knowledge here. Ignore the naysayers.

Very happy with the para expert I picked up today, which surprises me because it's my first 1911 with the gi blade sight...maybe the fiber optic front sight makes a bigger difference than I thought.

    Ok guys,
My price range is 5-700 if my wife doesn't find my stash.
I have first hand experience with two 1911's in that price range, Ruger SR1911 (paid $619) and Regent R200SS (paid $450 ). Both have been 100% reliable and have reasonable triggers. Ruger SR1911 is series 70 style. Regent is series 80 style (drop safe block on firing pin).

    Noob barking orders^^^^

always a good start, good luck with that

I don't equate "please" with 'barking an order'!

Additionally, "noob" doesn't mean he's just turned 21, so get off your high horse. I'm sure he's knowledgeable about subject matters that you and the likes of you can learn from.

You're either insecure or plain obnoxious. I don't stand for bullying, but won't waste time and words on imbeciles either.

Read your own signatures, did you yourself live up to them??

This is but my first of many no-nonsense crotchety posts on this board. Get used to it.

Yeah, ok, you don't know us that well.
By the way, welcome. Might try the introductions thread and tell us about yourself instead of griping.
